May 8, 2010 -  Moisture Detection with Infrared Thermal Imaging

While our thermal imaging services are optional with a home inspection, we recommend performing a thermal imaging scan on every house.  The hidden insulation, electrical, and moisture problems that we find with thermal imaging can save you large sums of money due to repairs and energy losses.

On a recent home inspection in Edmonton on a brand new home, moisture was detected that would have never been found without an infrared thermal imaging camera.  Moisture can cause structural and other damage and also lead to mold growth.  Below are a couple of thermal images showing the moisture and corresponding digital images of the same areas to show there was no visible evidence of moisture at these locations.

We recommend a thermal imaging scan for every home inspection and also offer thermal imaging as a separate service.
